2019 Olaf in Tokapa
In 2019, almost the entire school was on the stage of the KVS in Brussels, in the performance 'Olaf in Tokapa'. Anna Carlier and Tim Acke provided the story and concept, Anna wrote the text, Tim wrote the music. A photo album reminds us of this unforgettable experience. Feel free to ask at the secretariat.
2012 How Please (I see you)
How happy (I see you) was a performance in the Kaaitheater in 2012 in which we wanted to show the academy in every corner, let it work together, let it shine, strengthen each other! The humorous lyrics (the songs and a story about a childhood sweetheart by the sea) were by Randall Casaer, the music by Chris Carlier and the direction of Vital Schraenen. Everyone had to be featured, from the Arabic lute to the electric guitar, from the classical choir to the big band, from the pop ensemble to the solo violin, from actors in bathing suits to the tango orchestra, from the six-year-old Ini's to the retired student sax. We wanted to show fun, which was splattering from the stage in the final: a ferocious spinning chaos of orchestras, actors and musicians. And enthusiasm for music, in the two little trumpeters that appeared everywhere. And then there was the remarkable role of our farewell director, who roamed the stage in a lifeguard costume and turned out to speak big drum and Arabic!
2006 Opera De Nacht
Beautiful dreams, evil dreams ... The night and the realm of dreams as a medieval fairytale in which the 'good Manefee' and her entourage, the "knights of the night", have the difficult task of protecting the dreams of the sleeping children against the always lurking Queen of the Night and her retinue of ghosts, bats, dragons and skeletons who want nothing more than to release horrible nightmares on the children. More than 100 students on stage! Marina Yee came up with the story and our Walter Hus wrote the music. A first version was performed in the Beursschouwburg in 1997 and years later a second extended version was performed in the Kaaitheater. Years later, with the music academy, we conceived the ambitious plan to devise a new version in which the drama classes added their own storyline to the script. Walter made a simple orchestration for the academy's then-beginner string orchestra. Throughout the third trimester, the entire academy of music reverberated to the beat of this adventure that ended with two dazzling performances at the Kaaitheater. For the first time, one of the "major projects" of the academy extra muros was shown in a prestigious theater. The beginning of a beautiful tradition!

Community School
'It takes a village to raise a child'
... In this sense the whole broad school operation is included! Looking broadly at children from partners in the area who can inspire them. We invite children to look at the world through different glasses and explore the musical languages in which they express themselves. A language that does not necessarily consist of words, but also of images, movement, sounds, ... the language of the imagination. The movie 'I see what you don't see' is the result of a project with children from the 3rd kindergarten and the 2nd grade, a theater maker, a musician on the move and a film maker.
